I published another 1960s vintage knitting tutorial for a textured collared cardigan.
The knit looks lovely and stitches seem easy enough. Basically, you have to make ribbing and to work the back/front cross stitch and rib for this texture.

New Free Knitting Pattern: Cotton Raglan Top-Down

I published a new pattern for this short-sleeved cotton top knitted in the round.
I used DK weight cotton yarn and needles in 2 sizes: 4 mm and 4.5 mm. The edging is a combination of 2 stitches: garter and lace. The eyelets along the raglan lines look like slashes (kind of). I love this color, too: very cheerful!

Bottom-Up Cardigan in Textured Stitch

This drop-shoulder cardigan is knitted in textured stitch from the bottom up. 
No armhole shaping is necessary as the back and front are rectangles. 
A turn-down collar in double moss stitch is an extra stylish detail. 
This knit can be made buttoned or buttonless at you choice.

Knit a Sweater Tunic - Beginner Level

A new knit that looks and feels so good!

An easy-to-knit sweater tunic in double moss stitch and stockinette. Two identical rectangular pieces for the front and the back allow for some waist shaping thanks to the reverse stockinette at the outer edges of the middle section.

No neck shaping is necessary as the tunic has a boat neck feature.
The gauge is 12 sts in 4''/10 cm with #9 (5.5mm) needles, so this top can be finished quickly. You can find the free knitting pattern for this garment on

Purl & Knit Stitch for Sweater - Easy Knitting!

What I love about knit-and-purl stitches:
They are easy and endlessly variable. You can play with their unlimited combinations and applications.
Here is one of them good for cardigans and sweaters:

Multiple: 6+3 stitches.

Row 1 (right side): purl across.

Row 2 (wrong side): knit across.

Row 3: p4, k1, *p5, k1, repeat from *, end p4.

Row 4: repeat stitches as seen (knit over knitted stitches and purl over purled stitches).

Row 5: p3, *k3, p3, repeat from * to end.

Row 6: as row 4.

Next rows: repeat rows 1-6 as many times as you need.

Free Knitting Pattern - Summer Lace Cami Top

A camisole knitted in two pieces from the top down.
Yarn-over increases in combination with stitch decreases create a nice laced chevron stitch version. Vertical eyelet lines will make you look slimmer.
A contrasting crocheted trim accentuates and brightens a light primary color.

This open summer cotton tank is knitted in one piece from the bottom up in the round with matching straps held by buttons. A ripple lace stitch imitates waves and will compliment your figure. Women's Knitted Tunic - Top-Down, One-Piece Raglan Top, Yoke

This cotton sleeveless top is knitted in one piece from the top down.
No purling needed! A garter yoke with yarn-over increases has a low V-neckline.
Most of the lower body is worked in stockinette.
A garter hem gives the piece a nice touch.

A delightful do-it-yourself project for knitters: how to knit a cute ribbed beanie for babies that are 3 to 6 months old.

MEASUREMENTS Circumference 15" (38 cm), height 7.5" (19 cm) Good for babies 3-6 months old YARN Soft wool/acrylic, medium weight, about 1 once (30 g) Gauge ~4 sts/5 rows = 1" (2.5 cm)

BABY BEANIE KNITTING PATTERN

Cast on 62 stitches (15*4+2 selvage stitches).

Set up row: knit 1, purl 2, *knit 2, purl 2; repeat from *, end knit 1.

Row 1 (right side): purl 1, knit 2, move 2 sts back to left, loop (around and between moved sts), knit 2 tog, * purl 2, knit 2, move 2 sts back to left, loop, knit 2 tog; repeat from *, end purl 1.

Row 2 (wrong side): knit 1, purl 2, *knit 2, purl 2; repeat from *, end knit 1.

Rows 3-25 (about 5.25" up or 3/4 of hat height): 

Repeat rows 1 & 2: row 1 for each right side row, row 2 for each wrong side row.

Row 26: knit 1, *purl 2, knit 2 together; repeat from *, end knit 1.

Row 27: purl 1, * knit 2, move 2 sts back to left, loop, knit 2 tog, purl 1; repeat from * to end. 

Row 28: knit 1, * purl 2, knit 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 29: purl 1, * knit 2 together, purl 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 30: knit 1, * purl 1, knit 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 32: all purls.     

Rows 33-37: stockinette stitch (green yarn): knit right side rows and purl wrong side rows.

Cut off the green yarn end (leave about 8" long) and draw it through the top row stitches.

Tighten it up and make a knot.

Join the side edges (with yarn of respective color)**.

Make a little braid at the top.

The hat is done!

**Seam sides may come out a bit short: this can be fixed adding a few extra stitches at the bottom with a crochet hook

THE WAY I MAKE IT

Cast on 85 stitches

1) BRIM PART

The brim has 16 rows (~ 3" / 7.5cm)

Row 1 (right side) and next 7 right side rows: 

purl 1, *loop 1 around next stitch, knit 1, purl 1, repeat from* to end

Row 2 (wrong side) and next 7 wrong side rows: 

knit 1, *purl 1 (loop & stitch together), knit 1; repeat from * to end

2) BOTTOM PART (~ 3" / 7.5cm)

Basic 1x1 rib stitch (purls & knits) next 21 rows 

Switch the front side to the reverse 

3) MIDDLE PART (~ 4" /10 cm)

Every other right side row of the middle part (rows 38, 42, 46, 50, 54): 

*loop 1 around next stitch, knit 1, purl 1, repeat from * , 

end loop 1 around next stitch, knit 1

Next wrong side row: *purl 1 (loop & stitch together), knit 1, 

repeat from * , end purl 1 (loop & stitch together)

Basic 1x1 rib stitch otherwise (knits and purls)

Start decreasing the top after reaching up about 9.5-10" (24-25 cm) from the beginning row

4) TOP PART (~ 2" / 5 cm)

a) Right side row 1 of the top part: *knit 2 stitches together, 

repeat from* to end (make sure to avoid twisted stitches)

Next rows: stockinette stitch up another inch (2.5 cm)

Finalizing

Cut off the yarn ab.15" long from the last stitch and pull it through the last row stitches

Gather the stitches and make a knot at the end of the row

Gather the edge of the initial row

Connect the corners of both sides to each other

Cut, tie and hide the yarn ends

Attach a big button in the middle
